Playing our contests is easy;
but please read the details carefully.
To be eligible to play this or any other contest on this web site, players must open or have an account with www.GradeOneRacing.com
To open an active FREE GradeOneRacing account, click on the Registration tab and follow the directions
- Registration to be confirmed via return E-mail, with player's contest logon.
- One entry per player only. Multiple Entries are grounds for disqualification.
Please Note: Until we begin to accept subscription accounts in the fall, registration for this web site is free as are all of the contests on our schedule through the Breeders' Cup. - Players will select one horse in each of the designated contest races.
- Points will be based on hypothetical $20 Win, $20 Place wagers on each selected horse in each contest race
- IMPORTANT: Selections for this Aug. 28 contest may be made until 2:00 PM sharp, EDT Saturday, that is 11:00 AM PDT. This is later than the first contest and should help western based players make their entries at a reasonable hour, even if scratches may be touch and go on Del Mar's races, pending their promptness to provide same. We wish the deadline could be later, but that is not possible at this time.
- At the bottom line, the clear cut, specific deadline for making selections is necessary to accommodate inclusion of races on the east coast. Until we expand our flexibility through a more sophisticated scoring program in the fall, we have to set a single, specific deadline for all contest players.
- IMPORTANT. . . Below are a few changes for this contest regarding scratched selections:
- When making contest selections for each contest race, players will be permitted to choose an alternate selection that will come into play only if the primary selection is scratched.
- This will not apply to selected horses who are part of a mutuel coupling. In that case, should only one of the coupled horses scratch, the selection will remain intact with the other half of the mutuel coupling.
- If a primary and alternate selection are both scratched, the player's selection will revert to the post time favorite.
- If no alternate selection is indicated and the primary selection is scratched, the player's selection will revert to the post time favorite.
- Once selections are made and confirmed by return E-mail, no other changes will be accepted. Please note: No entries will be accepted by direct E-mail. All entries must be registered via the appropriate Entry page in a timely manner. It is the responsibility of the player to make selections in the appropriate On-Line entry form in a timely manner.
- Officers and contributors to GradeOneRacing.com may participate in this contest, but will be ineligible for the 20 Prize Awards. Should any G1-R.com officer or contributor finish in the top 20, the next contest player(s) will move up in the rankings to receive the appropriate prize award(s).
- This web site and the officers of www.GradeOneRacing.com are not responsible for entries that are incomplete or posted after the stated deadlines, including late entries caused by Internet issues.
- All disputes regarding any aspect of this contest, including possible cancellation of races, or electronic malfunctions, or other unforeseen delays or anomalies shall be decided strictly by the presiding officers of GradeOneRacing.com. Their judgments will be final in all cases.
- Likewise, GradeOneRacing.com reserves the right to cancel this contest for any reason at any time before or during the contest and as such all scores will be voided; no prize awards will be tendered, and every effort will be made to reschedule as soon as possible.
- Final scores will be posted by 12 Noon PDT, on Tuesday, Aug. 31 and should a score seem to be incorrect, the player must request Steve@GradeOneRacing.com to conduct a recount of his or her score no later than 12 Noon PDT, Thursday, Sep. 2nd.
- Final Prize distribution will be official by 12 Noon PDT, Friday, Sept. 3rd.
- Players who do not have XpressBet ADW Accounts, would then be required to open one. Prize payments will be made both by check sent on or before Sept. 13, to the verified mailing address of a prize winner and via an existing or newly opened XpressBet ADW account. Please see the bottom of these rules for special issues regarding ADW accounts.
- For problems incurred on the site, please notify the webmaster at: webmaster@GradeOneRacing.com and copy in our CEO, Steve Davidowitz at: Steve@GradeOneRacing.com.
Regarding late scratches:
In the event that any selection is scratched, the post-time favorite for that race automatically will replace said scratched horse(s).
Travers / Pacific Classic Contest Scoring
Contest Points will be awarded based on actual official payoff prices in the designated contest races
- Points will be based on hypothetical $20 Win, $20 Place wagers on each selected horse in each contest race.
- The contest winner and all official results will be determined by the highest pari mutual totals earned according to the specified scoring formulas outlined below.
- Official payoffs for point scoring will be the official payoffs as posted at the designated contest track.
- A cap limit of 620 points (30-1) will be set as the maximum to be awarded for any single $20 contest win wager.
- A cap of 320 points (15-1) will be awarded for any single $20 contest place wager.
- A BONUS AWARD OF 100 points will be added on top of the winning payoff (or on top of a capped win payoff) for a correct selection in a specified Bonus Race among the 10 contest races.
Example 1:
If a player's selection in a contest race finishes first and the official pari-mutuel payoffs for $2 wagers are: $6.00 to win and $4.00 to place; the player will receive a total of 100 points for that race.
$6.00 = 60 points for the hypothetical $20 contest wager.
$4.00 = 40 points for the hypothetical $20 contest wager.
$10.00 = 100 Total Contest Points for this one race.
Example 2:
If a player's selection finishes second in a contest race and returns $35.00 to place, no points would be awarded for the hypothetical WIN bet. But points for finishing SECOND would be awarded, yet reduced from 350 to 320, due to the 320 cap limit for place.
$35.00 = 320 net contest points for place, (cap limit of 320 for place imposed)
$32.00 cap to place = 320 Total Contest Points for this one race.
Example 3:
If a player's selection wins the designated 'Bonus Race' and the pari-mutuel, payoff is $72 to win and $35 to place; payoff points will include cap limits and bonus points, as below:
$75, (Cap limit $62) = 620 points
$35, (Cap limit $32) = 320 points
Bonus Race Winner= 100 points
Total = 1040 total points for this longshot winner in the "Bonus Race".
- In the event of ties for any of the top four prizes, the first tie breaker shall be the final time in hundredths selected for the winner in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, Aug. 28.
- If still tied, all prizes will be split
